Sweet Tooth Adventure

Calling all candy connoisseurs, sweet treat savants, and confectionery collectors! This route is for you! Prepare to indulge in all things sweet (and maybe even a little bit savory) that Old Sacramento has to offer!

Kicking things off, let’s start our journey at Candy Heaven, a veritable time capsule of all things candy from days past, present, and future!

As our blood sugar begins to rise, we wander over to Munchies Salt Water Taffy for a taste of nostalgia that’ll keep you chewing for years to come!

Cozy candy store entrance with a pink and blue "Munchies Salt Water Taffy" sign. Rustic wooden porch, inviting open doors, vibrant, nostalgic feel.

It’s time to yodel your way on up and over to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for some confectionery perfection!

Four gourmet candy apples in small dishes are arranged in a row. Each is coated in toppings: crushed cookies, rainbow sprinkles, nuts, and chocolate drizzle. A cheerful and indulgent display.

Now we’re really feeling the rush! Thankfully, our next stop is just around the corner. Step inside Sacramento Sweets Co., an Old Sacramento staple for nearly 50 years, where you can find delicious popcorn, peanut brittle, and just about anything chocolate-dipped that you can think of.

A cozy candy shop with a glass counter displaying various nougats. Brass lamps hang above, and an American flag decorates the warm, inviting space.

Not too far now, we find ourselves drawn to a colorful doorway, down a flight of stairs, and into the land of confectionery imagination, where Cerealism awaits!

To give our walking shoes a bit of relief, our next stop is practically next door! Head over to the red sign marked Candy Barrel, where sweet treats, drinks, and candy from all over the world await!

Last, but certainly not least on our list is the famous Candy Land, where you will find barrels filled to the brim with every kind of candy your salivating mind can imagine!

History Buff’s Trail

So you love all things history, eh? Consider yourself a real nerd for all things historic? Well, this trail is for you!

We’ll begin our journey at the Sacramento History Museum. Betcha didn’t see that coming! Fun fact: The Sacramento History Museum building is a recreation of the original Sacramento City Hall and Waterworks building. Look at that, you’re learning already.

After you’ve consumed all the historical knowledge you can, grab a ticket and hop aboard the newly restored Granite 10 Steam Locomotive for a 3-mile excursion! Feel the wind in your hair, the history on your face, and the soothing sounds of the train horn against your eardrums.

A black vintage steam locomotive is displayed on train tracks beside an orange passenger car labeled "Southern Pacific." Sunlight filters through nearby trees.

Once you arrive back at the station with that adventurous spirit still riding high, make your way over to Fanny Ann’s Saloon for a midday meal. Gotta keep that big brain fueled! Fun Fact #2: The Saloon is named after a steamboat called “The World Famous Fanny Ann”. The steamboat was prominent during the Gold Rush era and was later owned by a local madam and saloon proprietor named Big Annie Fanny, who eventually renamed herself Fanny Ann! Historical facts are the best!

To close things out, there’s no better way to celebrate a successful day of learning than with a Candlelight Concert at the California Railroad Museum. Talk about a unique music venue!

Family Day

So you finally got the kids all wrangled for a day out, but you have no idea what to do with them? Fret not! Old Sacramento is the perfect place to unlock some core memories and show the kids you still know how to have a good time.

Kick things off at Underground Mini Golf, where good old-fashioned putt-putt meets California History. The kids will learn and laugh their way through every hole.

Once you tally the scores and declare everyone a winner (no one loses on this adventure!), make your way to Dipped N Color Splat Studio to let the kids’ creativity run free! Your walls at home will thank you.

At this point, everyone will surely be ready for a bit of sustenance, so make your way over to Brannon Manor, where delicious food and fun await!

Date Night

Want to see just how compatible you and your potential partner are? Ready to test your teamwork, competitive edges, creativity, and sense of humor? Well, lock in for a date night neither of you will forget!

Start your evening with a team-building (or breaking) exercise at Neo Escape Room. Communication is key here, so be on the lookout for any red flags! Then, assuming you escaped, make your way a little further down 2nd Street to The Bear & Crown for some British Pub fare, where you can discuss who actually solved the escape room puzzles over a couple of pints.

Before heading to your next experience, take a stroll along the waterfront to see our friendly Sea Lions barking their little hearts out across the river from our historic riverboat!

Now that you’ve quelled your appetites, it’s time to kick back and enjoy unlimited laughs at Laughs Unlimited. Pro tip: Sitting in the front row on a date is ALWAYS a good idea. Surely, the performer won’t even notice you’re there.

Audience members at Laughs Unlimited laugh and smile warmly during a live comedy show in a dimly lit venue. Tables hold drinks and menus, highlighting a relaxed atmosphere.

Coffee Crawl

Whether you’re looking to fuel up, refresh, or grab a quick bite, Old Sacramento has a collection of unique Cafe options to choose from.

Starting at Blueprint Coffee, indulge in one of their pumpkin-flavored cold foam cold brews and relax out on the boardwalk for a while. Ah, the first coffee of the day is always the best!

Now that we’re fully awake, head over to Terra Forte for some deliciously saucy sandwiches, and who knows, maybe another espresso-based beverage to keep the fun at an optimal level! Plus, you know what they say; the second coffee of the day is always the best!

From there, make your way to Steamers Cafe, where a refreshing beverage awaits! And who knows? Maybe another coffee? Don’t feel judged! This is your day!
